What is cannabidiol (CBD)?
Cannabidiol, also known as CBD or CBD Oil, is a naturally occurring chemical found in the C. indica plant. It is one of the most highly concentrated and studied compounds among the more than 100 compounds, or cannabinoids, found in the plant. While it does not cause users to get high because the tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the principal psychoactive constituent is less than 0.1% thus studies show that the cannabidiol does carry numerous health benefits.
Although cannabidiol still requires further study to know all of its true health benefits, scientists have been able to pinpoint some of the medical uses of the compound which in some GP surgeries is prescribed for certain people. CBD has been used to treat various conditions over time, no doubt over the coming years, scientists will further their knowledge and help define what areas we can benefit the most from which is why the CBD movement is so important.
